Good news, action fans: After a sneak preview during the Super Bowl, your first extended look at Fast & Furious 6 is here. The franchise continues as Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian (Paul Walker) are asked to reassemble their team for one last international mission.
The characters are strewn across the globe until Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock) tracks them down, since they’re presumably the only ones who can give him the help he needs on the street. Their payment upon completion will be full pardons, so the stakes are high.
Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) returns from the dead as the second-in-command to a ruthless villain (Luke Evans). Dom is torn over having to fight his former flame, but he realizes he has an obligation to fulfill.
This installment in the massive franchise was directed by Justin Lin, who helmed the last three installments. Chris Morgan wrote the screenplay, as he’s done for three other installments of the franchise. The fact that these two are in the drivers’ seats, so to speak, means that fans can expect an advancement of the franchise’s storyline while keeping the general style and characters consistent.
Official statements on the budget of the film have not been released, but since the budget for the last installment was $125 million it’s only natural to assume that the amount will go up from there. This isn’t going to be the series’ last episode, either–talks of “Fast 7” are already in the works.
