Legendary British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac has decided to cancel the Australian and New Zealand leg of their worldwide tour after bassist John McVie was diagnosed cancer.

2. They Have Just Finished The U.K. & European Leg

Fleetwood Mac has just finished the U.K. and European leg of their worldwide tour. They were poised to open in Sydney, Australia on November 11 and continue throughout the southeast Pacific through the end of November. All these dates have now been canceled so McVie can start treatment for his cancer.


3. No Word on What Type of Cancer or How Treatable

The band stayed mum as to what kind of cancer McVie has been diagnosed with and how treatable it was. McVie is 67-years-old and has previously struggled with alcoholism, but has been reportedly sober since 1987.

4. McVie is a Founding Member of Fleetwood Mac

The band, famous for such hits as Landslide, Go Your Own Way, and The Chain, was formed by Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and Peter Green in London in 1967.

5. His Name Contributed to the Band’s Name

Combined with other founding member’s surname Mick Fleetwood and his own McVie, the band derived the name “Fleetwood Mac.”
