AMC Renews The Walking Dead for A 5th Season; 2nd Season of The Game Also on the Way

Now here’s the most unsurprising announcement of the day – AMC’s zombie apocalypse drama The Walking Dead has been renewed for a 5th season!

The network made this expected (yet still awesome!) reveal with a few comments from AMC president Charlie Collier. Charlie offered some light hearted comments to fans of the show through an official statement:

We are very happy to make what has to be one of the most anti-climactic renewal announcements ever: The Walking Dead is renewed for a fifth season. This is a show that has erased traditional distinctions between cable and broadcast. Its expanding base of passionate fans has grown every season, most recently—and most notably—with the season four premiere earlier this month, which broke viewership records for the series and became the biggest non-sports telecast in cable history. On behalf of the incredible team on both sides of the camera, thank you to the fans and here’s to more Dead.

The Walking Dead is a ratings juggernaut for AMC, as evidenced by the 16.1-million viewers who tuned into the show’s season four debut. Before that amazing TV Rating record, the show’s season three finale nabbed a total of 12.4-million viewers. It’s safe to say that this show will hang around for a long time.

In other exciting Walking Dead news, Telltale Games’ narrative driven adventure games of the series is getting a 2nd season. The five downloadable episodes for this season will arrive sometime later in 2013-2014 on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC/Mac and iOS platforms.

Check out the debut trailer above and read the official description for the continuing journey of Clementine:

The Walking Dead: Season Two continues the story of Clementine, a young girl orphaned by the undead apocalypse. Left to fend for herself, she has been forced to learn how to survive in a world gone mad.

Many months have passed since the events seen in Season One of The Walking Dead, and Clementine is searching for safety. But what can an ordinary child do to stay alive when the living can be just as bad — and sometimes worse — than the dead?

As Clementine, you will be tested by situations and dilemmas that will test your morals and your instinct for survival. Your decisions and actions will change the story around you, in this sequel to 2012’s Game of the Year.

Key Features:

-Decisions you made in Season One and in 400 Days will affect your story in Season Two
-Based on Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic books
-Play as Clementine, an orphaned girl forced to grow up fast by the world around her
-A sequel to 2012’s Game of the Year

PC players save a few bucks on all five episodes by purchasing a season pass that saves them 10-percent. The game is now up for pre-order through Steam for $22.99.
