LA County Sheriff Says Paul Walker Wasn’t Street Racing in Death Crash

According to the L.A. County Sheriff’s department, Paul Walker and Roger Rodas were not street racing at the time of their crash. Both men died when the car spun out of control on a bend and burst into flames in Santa Clarita, California on November 30.

Rumors had spread online that Walker and Rodas had been involved in an illegal street race at the time of their deaths, similar to the races seen in Walker’s Fast and the Furious movies.

A source reportedly told NBC News that the pair were doing around 40-45 mph at the time of the crash which occurred in a 15 mph zone.

The LA Times reports that witnesses saw only a single car involved in the crash. The car was the red Porsche that Paul Walker and Roger Rodas were seen driving off in together.
