John-David, aka Johnny D, started working for Duck Dynasty‘s Robertson clan in Season 5 as Willie’s assistant. Although he was made fun of throughout most of the season premiere, the men eventually grew to accept him into the family business.
Here’s what you need to know about the newest cast member of the hottest reality show on TV.
1. He’s Korie’s Cousin
Willie was opposed to hiring a family member, but John-David won him over by expertly quoting Nacho Libre. The brothers wanted to know why Willie needed an assistant. Jase said, “Willie doesn’t need any help around the office. I’m not even real sure what he does.” They did agree that since Johnny D is “heavier and hairier” than Willie, he made him look good, and called him a “redneck butler.” The boys got ruffled when the assistant started giving them orders.
I knew my cuz @JohnDavidOwen7 would be perfect for Willie! #bondingovernacholibre

2. He’s Married & Expecting a Baby
Johnny married his high school sweetheart, Alyson Watson, in 2010.
Alyson posted on her Facebook page that she’s in her third trimester. Hopefully their little one will make a debut on the show one day!

In 2013, he graduated from the state school based in Monroe with a finance degree. His wife also graduated with him. During the premiere, he tweeted about how his current success might surprise one of his professors.
I just hope my college professor was watching. "You'll never get a job if you don't shave that beard."

4. He’s Willie’s Assistant
John-David definitely resembles Willie, but that could be due to the fact that they both have pretty-long beards. In the picture above, we see that he was once clean shaven.
According to his Linkedin page, he started as the Executive assistant to Duck Commander in April of 2013.
5. He Watched the Premiere With His New Boss
Willie invited me over to his quarters for the premiere and some toast. #bondingovernacholibre #apparentlythatsarealhashtag
