Marc Broussard and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band will collaborate for their performance at the 2014 Miss USA Pageant. NOLA reports:
Broussard and the horn section of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band will also team up for what the Miss USA organization is calling “an ultimate high energy mashup and Mardi Gras party on stage.”
Since this year’s competition is in Louisiana, having the Dirty Dozen Brass Band is a perfect choice for the show. According to Wikipedia:
The Dirty Dozen revolutionized the New Orleans brass band style by incorporating funk and bebop into the traditional New Orleans jazz style, and has been a major influence on the majority of New Orleans brass bands since.
2. His New Song “Hurricane Heart” Is Featured in the Miss USA Promo Video
Broussard’s latest hit song “Hurricane Heart” was chosen to be featured in the Miss USA promo video shown above. Check it out.

3. Broussard’s Style Is “Bayou Soul”
Broussard’s music is often described as “Bayou Soul,” which is taken from the Southern roots of music. It fuses blues, funk, rock, pop, and R&B to make its own unique sound. Check out the above clip of Broussard singing a song called “Cruel.”
4. Ted Broussard from The Boogie Kings Is His Father

Music runs in the Broussard family as Marc happens to be the son of Ted Broussard, a Louisiana Hall of Fame guitarist who used to be a part of The Boogie Kings.
5. He Married His Wife on The Rock Boat
Awfully quiet out there. Did you guys see this yet? This is my family. pic.twitter.com/mSMe0Nq3c9
— Marc Broussard (@MarcBroussard) May 13, 2014
The Rock Boat is a yearly rock music-themed festival on a cruise ship and in January 2008, Broussard married his wife Sonya on The Rock Boat VII. That year, artists including Better Than Ezra, Sister Hazel, Zac Brown Band, Josh Kelley, and Collective Soul performed at the sea festival.
This wasn’t too much of a surprise setting for the couple’s wedding as music often overlaps with Broussard’s personal life. The couple has four children and one of them is named Gibb after musician Gibb Droll who toured with Broussard. In addition, Broussard’s song “Gavin’s Song” was inspired by his son Gavin.
