Krusty Krab in Palestine: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know


The Palestinian company Salta Burgers is opening a real-life Krusty Krab restaurant from the Nickelodeon cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. The restaurant will open in the Palestinian city of Ramallah and has incorporated nearly every design detail from the inside out, according its Facebook page.

Nickelodeon has not yet commented on Salta Burgers’ new restaurant, but the company plans to announce their opening date soon.

Here’s what the new Krusty Krab is cooking up in its not so under the sea location.


1. Krabby Patty Burgers Will Be on the Menu

Salta Burger advertises its Krusty Krab as a fast food and seafood restaurant. The restaurant will serve its signature dish Krabby Patties, according to the Metro. No word on if Krusty Krab pizza will also be available, but watch SpongeBob sing his personal theme song for the Italian pie below.



The Restaurant Looks Almost Identical Inside and Out

From the red, yellow and blue tables to the boat-shaped cashier counters, Salta Burgers’ Krusty Krab has replicated nearly every detail of SpongeBob’s favorite workplace. Only the flags hanging over the restaurant need to be rearranged to match the real Krusty Krab.

3. Costa Rica Already Opened and Closed a Krusty Krab Restaurant

Palestine’s Krusty Krab isn’t the first restaurant from the cartoon series to open in the world. The Krusty Krab opened in Santa Elena, Costa Rica in 2012 but closed a year later.


4. This Krusty Krab Won’t Have Chum Bucket Competition

The Krusty Krab rival restaurant Chum Bucket, owned by Plankton, does not have any real-life locations in the world. That doesn’t mean the Krusty Krab shouldn’t be on the lookout for competitors trying to steal the secret recipe for its Krabby Patties.


5. The Krusty Krab Will Have an Opening Date Soon

The Krusty Krab will announce an opening date shortly, according to its Facebook page. Almost 5,000 people have liked the page since it went up on May 3, 2014.

The restaurant will be located on Al Ma’ahed St. in Ramallah. The city is located in the central West Bank about 6 miles north of Jerusalem.
