San Diego Comic-Con 2014: Top 10 Movie & TV Panels You Need to Attend

The upcoming season of 2015-2016 movies is mind blowing.

Plus the next gamut of television shows that are slated for this year and beyond all sound and look like hits in the making. For those who’re desperate to see a lot more of the geek/nerd related media, you need to pay a visit to San Diego Comic-Con 2014. This year’s expo is full of great panels that will offer a close look at some big name franchises.

Here are the top 10 movie and TV show panels you need to sit in on.


1. Special Sneak Peek Pilot Screenings – Wednesday, July 23 • 6:00pm – 10:00pm in Ballroom 20

Warner Bros. Television is officially starting of SDCC 2014 right by taking over Preview Night. For those lucky enough to sit in on Ballroom 20’s 1st major screening, you’ll get to check out world premier scenes from DC’s upcoming shows – The Flash, Constantine, iZombie and Teen Titans Go! WB and DC are in cahoots when it comes to taking over the 2014-2015 television season. Superheros, magicians and supernatural individuals are ready to rival Marvel’s TV show lineup.


2. Warner Bros. Pictures – Saturday, July 26 • 10:00am – 12:00pm in Hall H

Warner Bros. Pictures has three films in the works that they’re preparing to showcase in Hall H – Jupiter Ascending, Mad Max: Fury Road and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. We’ve seen a couple of pics from the 1st films, but we’re hoping this panel gives fans a closer look at the next Hobbit epic.


3. Sneak Peek – Friday, July 25 • 11:30am – 12:00pm in Hall H

We’re quite puzzled by what this could possible be. At the same time, we’re super excited at the prospects of what major film will be debuted during this panel. On one hand, we could totally envision Marvel Studios showing off some more footage from Age of Ultron and sharing some news on the next cinematic phase of films. Another part of us is thinking that DC and Warner Bros. will be the ones taking over this panel as they show off their plans for their movie plans. Either way, you’re not going to want to miss this mystery panel.


4. Paramount Pictures – Thursday, July 24 • 3:00pm – 4:00pm in Hall H

Paramount Pictures will take over Hall H and give viewers an exclusive sneak peek at their upcoming films. You can probably expect to see some new footage of the following films being put out in 2014 and beyond – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Area 51, Interstellar, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 etc. Hit up this LINK to get a glimpse at some of the other films Paramount is getting ready to produce (lord we hope they show SOMETHING from Terminator: Genesis…).


5. 20th Century Fox Presentation – Friday, July 25 • 4:20pm – 6:20pm in Hall H

20th Century Fox is preparing to present an inside look at their newest slate of films. Our guts are telling us that they’ll present movie fanatics with a look at new films like Let’s Be Cops, The Maze Runner, Gone Girl, The Book of Life etc. If you hit up this LINK, you’ll get to see the full lineup of planned releases from 20th Century Fox. Let’s all hope that we get a few questions answered about the 2015 Assassin’s Creed film adaptation.

6. iZombie Pilot Screening and Presentation – Friday, July 25 • 11:30am – 12:30pm in Room 6BCF

The TV show adaptation of iZombie will be previewed on SDCC 2014 Preview Night, but fans who missed that event will get a 2nd chance to see this show in all its glory. This soon-to-be CW show will be presented via a pilot screening, which will also include a Q&A session with interested fans. Who will be there to speak on DC’s next release? None other than Rose McIver (Once Upon a Time), Malcolm Goodwin (Breakout Kings), Rahul Kohli and Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill). Executive producers Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) and Diane Ruggiero-Wright (Veronica Mars) will also make an appearance.


7. AMC’s The Walking Dead – Friday, July 25 • 12:20pm – 1:20pm in Hall H

On October 12, 2014, the highly anticipated 5th season of AMC’s The Walking Dead will finally rise! If you’re attending SDCC 2014 and are dying to get a hint of what’s going to happen at Terminus, you’ll need to take a set in Hall H for this panel. Along with a fan Q&A session, this event will debut a sneak preview of the next episode. Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Chad Coleman, Michael Cudlitz, executive producer and showrunner Scott Gimple, executive producer Robert Kirkman, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, executive producer Dave Alpert, special effects makeup supervisor and executive producer Greg Nicotero and Chris Hardwick (The Nerdist, Talking Dead) will all be on hand for this one.


8. Marvel Television Presents – Friday, July 25 • 3:00pm – 4:00pm in Ballroom 20

Marvel’s takeover of the big screen has been bubbling for a while now, but now they’re preparing to rule the world of TV too. Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s head of television) and the casts of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Marvel’s Agent Carter will be at SDCC 2014 and provide some inside info on the upcoming seasons for both shows.


9. World Premier of Batman: Assault on Arkham – Friday, July 25 • 7:00pm – 9:00pm in Ballroom 20

On August 12, 2014, DC Universe Original Movies will release their newest animated feature – Batman: Assault on Arkham. As for this panel, fans will be lucky enough to watch the entire film at SDCC 2014. Once you get through this 2-hour animated piece, a special Q&A session, special announcements and giveaways will follow. You can throw your questions at the following guests of this panel – Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series), Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds), Troy Baker (The Last of Us), John DiMaggio (Futurama), producer James Tucker (Son of Batman), director Jay Oliva (Justice League: War), dialogue director Andrea Romano (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns), screenwriter Heath Corson (Justice League: War) and moderator Victor Lucas (Electric Playground).


10. Arrow Special Video Presentation and Q&A in Ballroom 20 – Friday, July 25 • 5:30pm – 6:30pm

This fall, the highly praised Arrow TV series will begin airing again on Wednesdays via CW. Comic book fans and even non-comic book readers have been enthralled with intense action that Team Arrow find themselves in. The newest threat of Malcolm Merlyn will be the main focus on the next season of the show, which will be covered in this TV show panel. Fans can direct their questions towards Arrow series stars Stephen Amell (Private Practice), Katie Cassidy (Supernatural), David Ramsey (Dexter), Emily Bett Rickards (Flicka: Country Pride), Colton Haynes (Teen Wolf), Willa Holland (The O.C.), Paul Blackthorne (The River), and John Barrowman (Torchwood), executive producers Greg Berlanti (The Flash), Marc Guggenheim (Green Lantern) and Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe).
