Update: It’s official! The official Deadpool film will be hitting theaters on February 12, 2016!
So at one point in time, Ryan Reynolds was set to reprise his role as X-Men Origins: Wolverine’s Deadpool.
Marvel Comics’ most hilarious mercenary was being developed for a feature-length film that we now know was cancelled during its development. This action-packed piece of leaked test footage is practically amazing! Deadpool can be seen spouting of the lyrics to his favorite Gwen Stefani song, hopping into a car full of thugs, kicking their asses and being a comedic hero as always. “The Merc With a Mouth” looks like he’s quite comfortable entertaining fans on the big screen.
Check out the leaked test footage of this once-in-developemt Deadpool film above. We’re holding out some hope that this film hasn’t been completely buried in development hell…
In order to lead some credence to the reality of a Deadpool film being made, we unearthed these comments from the character’s co-creator Rob Liefeld from two years ago:
They’ve got a great director on the movie, they’ve got a great script. I may or may have not seen some sort of test of footage that would blow your mind if you saw it and go holy crap and that’s Deadpool in costume. Katana swords, guns, shooting people’s faces off and making me laugh. And I may or may not have seen something that looks just like that. And you’ve got what would amount to the first R Rated X-Men movie. Because that script is R Rated.
