Parenthood premiered it’s sixth and final season on September 25.
Tonight’s episode met with a new relationship, a pregnancy, and a health scare.
Here are the highlights.
1. Amber is Pregnant
The episode opens with Amber seeing her baby on a sonogram. “It’s just overwhelming,” she tells the doctor.
When the doctor asks her if this is a pregnancy she wants, Amber doesn’t answer right away, and instead asks to listen to the baby’s heartbeat again.
Later on, when Haddie confronts her cousin, Amber tells her the news. This sparks Haddie to tell Amber that she has feelings for a woman.
The final scene of the episode shows Amber telling her mother, Sarah, who looks sad and shocked.

We do get a glimpse of Joel when he drops off the kids to the school’s construction site. He then offers to help.

Later on, when Julia gets some disturbing news, Joel stays with the children. When she gets back, Joel kisses her and she pulls away.
At the end of the episode, Julia’s coworker tells her that he wants to make a go of their relationship and she looks pleasantly surprised.
3. Hank’s Daughter Moves In
Ruby, Hank’s daughter, comes to live with him. She comes in with an attitude, to her mother, Sandy’s, dismay.
“Where do I put my crap?” she asks Hank.
Interrupting Hank and Sandy’s moment, Ruby comes in holding a pair of women’s underwear she found in her room. Sandy promptly leaves.
When she returns, Hank explains that he’s dating Sarah.
Sandy confesses that she asked to be transferred there because Ruby hung out with a bad group back at home.
4. Max Doesn’t Want to Attend Chambers Academy
Adam and are stressed with the new school being done in time for classes.
Max causes a scene at the construction site, saying he will not attend.
Adam tells Max, “We want you to be excited to go here because this isn’t going to be like your old school. None of that stuff that happened there is going to happen here.”
However Max is adamant and says:
I see what you’re doing, you’re trying to get me excited about this school. I like homeschooling, I get my work done faster, and I don’t have to worry about the other kids slowing me down. I don’t need friends, I have Hank. I’m going to homeschool, and work at Hank’s studio in the afternoon.
With much probing from his parents, Max does attend the first day of school with his peers.
5. Sarah & Her Dad Go to Vegas, He Collapses
Sarah plans a surprise birthday trip to Vegas for Zeke.
“Your bag is already packed,” Millie says when he asks for permission.
They are gambling at a table when Zeke collapses.
What just happened??? Did he die, have a heart attack? Oh, my word…this is just too much! #Parenthood #ParenthoodFarewell

At the hospital, Zeke, who takes medication for his heart, is dismissing it as just a little dizziness.
The doctor confirms that it wasn’t a heart attack.
Adam and Crosby come to Vegas and find that their father is not resting in his room, but gambling.
When he gets back home, he visits the doctor, who wants to run more tests.
