1. Hough Guest Stars as Character Noah West on Nashville
Derek Hough is playing movie star Noah West in a multi-episode arc on Nashville. Entertainment Tonight writes:
Our DWTS hunk will be playing Noah West, a beguiling and disarming movie star who will cross paths with the players of Nashville’s music realm when he stars alongside Juliette in the film. And it looks like things are going to be heating up on set because sparks seriously fly when the two characters first meet. (There’s even a sexy smooch in the episode!)

2. Sister Julianne Is Currently Staying With Hough
Derek Hough and his sister grew up with Mark Ballas, spending much of their time in London. Julianne Hough had become involved with Dancing With the Stars and the show later became interested in Derek. Derek, however, was busy playing with his band alongside Mark Ballas. Soon, the DWTS producers were interested in Ballas as well as Derek, so they both joined the show.
Reportedly, sister Julianne Hough is currently living with her brother as she’s renovating her home. Derek apparently says it can get aggravating because Julianne has boxes everywhere and his condo barely has enough room for his stuff, let alone another person’s.
3. He Just Got Done With Touring
Just prior to starting a brand new season of Dancing With the Stars, Hough finished up his summer tour with his sister Julianne as well as his book tour. Hough’s first book Taking the Lead: Lessons from a Life in Motion came out on August 5, 2014 and was on The New York Times Best Seller list on August 24, 2014.
As for Hough’s tour with his sister, it was a great success filled with dancing and singing by both Derek and Julianne.
4. Hough Has a New Show Coming Out on HGTV in 2015
Hough and Ballas have gone in on buying a house together for the purpose of flipping it. E! News reported in February 2014:
Best buds, bandmates and Dancing With the Stars champs Mark Ballas and Derek Hough have gone in on a four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom bachelor pad together in Studio City, California … Per the specs, the 3,235-square-foot, mountain-view home sits on about a third of an acre (sounds like plenty of space to choreograph routines and jam) and has maids quarters with a separate entrance and laundry area … Two large living spaces share a dual-sided fireplace and a large open kitchen has granite countertops and plenty of natural light coming in via skylight. The master suite (they’re probably going to need to build another one of those, too) has a big bathroom with a walk-in closet, a separate spa and shower and French doors leading out to the backyard.
While buying a house together is a big deal, apparently Hough and Ballas have plans for flipping their purchase. We’re not sure if their actual residence is the house that they’re flipping or if it was a separate purchase. Reportedly, Ballas and Hough bought a house to flip it for profit. In addition, the home renovation will be broadcast as a four episode show on HGTV and it will be called Mark & Derek’s Excellent Flip. The show is set to air in early 2015.
5. He Was Raised a Mormon
Derek Hough was raised a Mormon and he’s sure to participate in many charities, officially as well as in every day life. In 2012, he was spotted bringing groceries to a sleeping homeless man on the street. Daily Mail reported:
The Utah-born dancer and choreographer, who’s estimated net worth is $3 million, was raised Mormon however it’s unclear whether Hough continues to be a follower of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
As reported via Wikipedia:
On February 22, 2014, Hough was part of the “Bust a Move” event for breast health that took place in Ottawa, Canada, where he led a fitness session. During the event, $1,048,258.60 was raised for breast cancer.
