Ed Sheeran is set to perform at the 2014 MTV EMAs and perhaps this event will put him in high spirits. Recently, a terminally ill fan who had proposed to him passed away and he’s reportedly devastated. MTV reported:
Katie Papworth, who had been battling an aggressive form of cancer for eight years, met Sheeran on October 30 before his concert in Glasgow, Scotland, and took the opportunity to ask for his hand in marriage. She presented him with a ring carved with an infinity symbol, which Sheeran accepted — along with her proposal. Papworth also gave Sheeran a picture she had drawn for him before she lost her sight, and the “All About It” singer signed a copy of the drawing, “Katie, lovely to finally meet my wife.”
The Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation posted the sad message of Papworth’s death on Facebook, writing:
We have had some sad news this morning Katie Papworth has peacefully passed away in her parents arms. All our thoughts and prayers are with Katie’s family at this Sad Time.
