Nicki Minaj is ready to perform a single off her new album “The Pinkprint” with guest singer Skylar Grey for her performance at the 2014 American Music Awards. In addition to this performance, she will also join Ariana Grande and Jessie J to sing their hit song “Bang Bang.” Hopefully, Minaj doesn’t suffer a wardrobe malfunction like she did at the VMAs.
The song Minaj is performing with Skylar Grey is called “Bed of Lies” and you can check out the audio video above. You can also check out a Vine from the AMAs performance below:
Skylar Grey, born Holly Brook Hafermann, is a singer and songwriter, who actually wrote the song “Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem and Rihanna. As far as the reason behind her stage name, it’s reported that:
Grey explained that she thought her stage name “represents the unknowns in life. People seem to be afraid of the unknowns, but I’m the complete opposite. I dive into the unknown because I feel like that’s where all your possibilities come from.” She explained to Beatweek that she chose “grey” with an e rather than an a because “I like to do things the original way” and because “it’s more masculine. I’m not a very feminine person.”
Recently, Grey claimed that a 14-year-old street artist was stealing her name. TMZ writes:
Skylar wants 14-year-old Skyler Grey (with an ‘e’) to go by a different name because it’s causing confusion — she suggests “Skyler Grey Arthurs” or “Skyler G” or just “SG.” Here’s the irony … Skylar Grey isn’t even HER legal name. It’s actually Holly Hafermann. Nonetheless, she’s already trademarked it and used it in all her videos and marketing. The REAL Skyler Grey just so happens to be a legit prodigy himself … he’s sold his street art to Snoop Dogg, The Game and other big names. We’re told Skyler the kid refuses to fold.
