It’s Scandal Thursday and we’ve got a full recap of tonight’s episode … President Fitz is confronted in the oval office, saying he’s being watched and that it would be a shame is Olivia Pope was beheaded. Fitz then calls a meeting of the chiefs first thing in the morning. Fitz says he will not listen to any orders of war until he’s received proof of life. Just as Fitz was about to whisper the news to his wife, she admits that she’s sleeping with Andrew again. Andrew is behind Pope’s kidnapping as he aims to be President, so he tells her nothing. She says she thinks it’s better that the two of them have more of a partnership than a marriage. In a video holding a newspaper, Olivia Pope says she’s been taken against her will and that to ensure her safety, the president must declare war on West Angola. If he refuses, she will be killed. Elizabeth North (Portia de Rossi) is shown to be behind the war, though she didn’t know Olivia Pope had actually been kidnapped to accomplish this. Huck tries to get information out of her in her home, but she says she doesn’t know anything. Fitz is warned by Tom that he cannot trust anyone in his security detail and can trust no one. Fitz arrives at Olivia Pope’s apartment and Jake is there waiting. He shows the video to Jake and Jake analyzes it to try to find clues on location. Fitz needs his help because he is being followed everywhere. When Pope was filming the video of her kidnapping, she asked for a glass of water so that she could show the reflection of her kidnapper.
Pope’s kidnapper tells her he doesn’t care what happens because he gets paid either way. Cyrus is beginning to realize that something is up and realizes that Fitz is listening to the Vice President. Huck sneaks into Elizabeth’s daughter’s room and threatens her life unless he finds out where Olivia is. Elizabeth says that if he touches her, Olivia is dead, revealing she knows where she is.
Fitz tells his wife that in 24 hours he will kill Olivia Pope because he cannot declare war on West Angola and he tells her that her boyfriend is behind it all. He whispers this to her outside on the balcony and admits that he loves Olivia Pope. Mellie says that if he loves her, then he knows what to do. The next day, Fitz calls a press conference about declaring war on West Angola. The press conference is shown to Olivia in her cell. Her kidnapper says to her, “Who’s the puppet now?”
Fitz meets up with Andrew in the oval office hoping to find out Olivia Pope’s whereabouts and Andrew says it will take time until a full out war is underway. A friend of Lois, Olivia Pope’s neighbor is looking for Pope so that she could get the key to Lois’ apartment to find out where she is. Huck finds the ring Olivia dropped on her neighbor’s floor during the kidnapping. Through the internet connection in the apartment, they are able to put faces to Olivia’s kidnappers.
Cyrus confronts Fitz about the war he has started and how he completely disagrees with what he’s doing. He angrily tells Cyrus to take his report back to his office and read it. When Cyrus gets back to his office and opens up the report, it says “They have Olivia.” Now he understands. Olivia asks her kidnapper for a last meal and to be shot in the head. He tells she’s going to be with them for at least the next three years and then eventually, yes, he’ll have to kill her.
Elizabeth approaches Mellie and tells her she has nothing to do with Olivia Pope’s kidnapping. Elizabeth then reveals that Huck shredded her back for torture. It’s a pretty shocking scene. Elizabeth tells Mellie that Andrew isn’t just going to stop at war. Mellie then approaches Andrew and tells him she knows about Olivia Pope. Andrew tells Mellie that his love for her is all that matters.
Olivia tries to convince her kidnapper to sell her on the open market because people would pay top dollar for the woman who owns the president’s heart.
Mellie approaches the President and says she’s taken care of everything. Mellie slept with Andrew and then took his two phones. She hands them off to Elizabeth who turns them over to Huck. Elizabeth apologizes and says she never meant for any of this to happen. With the help of David Rosen, Jake is able to locate where Olivia Pope was originally kept, but Pope is not there. She is all fixed up and on an airplane with kidnapper Ian. He tells the president that he’s selling Pope to the highest bidder and that he’ll be in touch.
On the next episode, Olivia Pope is being auctioned off and we are waiting to see who will win her …
