Tonight is the premiere of a brand new game show called 500 Questions with host Richard Quest. It gathers some of the most intelligent people in the country to try to answer “the world’s toughest questions.” Dan McCarthy appears on the very first episode of the quiz show and we’ve got some background info on him as well as the game. 1. He Had A Perfect Score On His SATs
Dan McCarthy is a lawyer from Toledo, Ohio. He graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University and got a perfect score on his SATs. Impressive. According to the Toledo Blade, McCarthy is currently an attorney in Los Angeles, but he lived in Maumee until he was 12 years old.

According to the Toledo Blade, McCarthy’s interest in trivia began when he was very young and carried on throughout his life. Being on this trivia quiz show, McCarthy said he found his “welcome to the big leagues moment.”

McCarthy is up against a neuroscientist and author from Harvard named Ogi Oga, who has won on the quiz show Millionaire in the past.
4. He Hopes to Appear On Television Again
In his interview with the Toledo Blade, McCarthy said he hopes this will not be the last that people hear of him, explaining that:
It’s kind of weird, especially with all the connections we form on social media. I feel like there are so many people paying attention. I feel like there’s a whole world out there now. Hopefully you’ll be seeing me again.

When McCarthy auditioned for the show online, he thought he did a terrible job, telling the Toledo Blade:
I was sure that I had screwed it up. The questions were so difficult. I felt like I needed to memorize every list I possibly could.
McCarthy said the audition consisted of a scary amount of tests that you need to take online.
