‘Game of Thrones’ Star in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

Star Wars

Happy National Star Wars Day — May the Fourth be with you. Today, the holiest of holy Star Wars days, has already given us some great Star Wars-related news and reveals, mostly thanks to a great spread from Vanity Fair.

Now, a new image leak from the Vanity Fair issue, which has already shown us a number of great first-looks at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens cast, has revealed that Game of Thrones’ Brienne of Tarth (played by Gwendoline Christie) will play the role of a chrome Storm Trooper named Captain Phasma in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie. It appears as though Captain Phasma is standing outside of a burning building following an attack, at least according to Vanity Fair’s description of the photo.

The spread also gave us our first look at Kylo Ren, the upcoming Star Wars villain in The Force Awakens, and our first look at Maz Kanata (pre-special effects).

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens release date is currently set for December 18, 2015, and is of course being directed by J.J. Abrams.
