Celine Dion Breaks Down Crying at Billboard Music Awards 2016

At tonight’s 2016 Billboard Music Awards, Celine Dion delivered an amazing performance of “The Show Must Go On” prior to her receiving the Icon Award. This is the first televised performance that Dion has put on since the death of her husband Rene Angelil in January 2016.

Upon receiving her award tonight, she was surprised when her eldest son Rene Charles came out on stage to present her with the honor. Dion began crying and then apologized to the crowd because she was not expecting to see her son on stage. She also revealed that she’s been trying to stay strong for her kids and doesn’t want them to see her cry.

With her son by her side, Dion gave a heartfelt acceptance speech and finished by honoring her husband, crying that this award was for him.

Celine Dion lost husband Rene Angelil after a long battle with throat cancer. For her entire career until 2014, Angelil was her music manager, but he had to resign when his health would not allow him to carry out his duties.
