What is going on with the 2016 Daytime Emmys? Are the awards being aired tonight on TV? Unfortunately, the awards show did not have the financial backing that it needed this year in order to air on television. National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences senior vice president David Michaels told TV Insider:
Last year, NATAS paid for the entire production and we just can’t do that again. We’re a non-profit. Nobody could have made a greater effort to try to work a deal than [NATAS president] Bob Mauro, but we fell short on the money and our board decided not to go ahead with [a telecast] this year.
So, unfortunately, there is no awards show live stream. HOWEVER, there IS a live stream for red carpet arrivals available and it begins at 5 p.m. ET. The awards show is still set to start at 8 p.m. ET.
If you would like to watch the red carpet live stream, it is available on Parachute TV. Click here to get started. Then, click the “Watch Our Channel” button. If you do not have an account already, you can click the “Wanna Join?” button. This will take you to a screen where you will fill out information about yourself and your Periscope account. You need a Periscope account for this. If you DO NOT have a Periscope account, you can click here and download the app. This will allow you to watch the Parachute TV channel as well as use Periscope TV. The app is available via iTunes as well as Google Play.
This year’s show takes place at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in Los Angeles, California. As for this year’s recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, the award will go to Sonia Manzano.
What is most important for you to know is that there are already plans for the Daytime Emmys to return to television for 2017. So, while you may miss the show on television this year, next year is already in the works.
Other awards shows on tonight include the Radio Disney Music Awards and the American Country Countdown Awards.
