Marvel’s The Defenders: Mini-Series Coming Soon All four of Marvel’s street heroes — Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) — will unite in the Netflix mini-series event to face their biggest threat yet. Daredevil season two showrunners, Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, will serve in the same capacity for The Defenders and Drew Goddard (The Martian, Lost) joins them as an executive producer. Production on the event series is set for later this year. “This is the big one. Four amazing casts, four amazing series, now all in one amazing story,” Petrie and Ramirez told Marvel.com. “We are thrilled at the opportunity to deliver the show that both we and the fans have been waiting for.” Netflix announced in November 2013 its plan to bring four of Marvel’s most popular characters to the streaming service for a minimum of four, thirteen episode series. The shows would culminate in The Defenders mini-series that reimagined “a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters,” according to Marvel.com. "This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel's brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty," Alan Fine, President of Marvel Entertainment, said in a statement at the time.
