Alton Brown is an actor, celebrity chef, and television personality who has a reported net worth of $13 million. He has also written several books about food and cooking, and was a contributor to the 2005 cookbook, ‘Food Network Favorites: Recipes from Our All-Star Chefs’.
Brown was born in LA in 1961, and spent a majority of his childhood in Georgia.

4. He Was Named ‘Cooking Teacher of the Year’ in 2004
Brown graduated from New England Culinary Institute in 1997. In 2004, he was named ‘Cooking Teacher of the Year’. Seven years later, he won the James Beard Foundation’s award for Best TV Food Personality. When he was the guest programmer on Turner Classic Movies in November 2007, he selected the films What’s Up, Tiger Lily, Closely Watched Trains, Point Blank, and Blowup.
The cook’s father, Alton Brown Sr., was a media executive and the owner of WRWH radio station.
5. He Starred in ‘Good Eats’
As a boy and young man, Brown wasn’t satisfied with the quality of cooking shows that he’d seen on tv– he, therefore, set out to create his own.
Between 1998 and 2012, he starred in what was originally PBS’s show, ‘Good Eats’. The show ended up being picked up by the Food Network, and won a Peabody Award in 2006. In 2011, he announced that the show was coming to an end, and the final episode aired on February 10, 2012.
