It’s robot fighting time! That’s right, the uniquely-armed, robotic machines are back for the ultimate showdown in the second season of last year’s hit ABC summer competition series, BattleBots.

The qualifying round will see 32 teams go head-to-head in the first round of competition. The teams’ competing bots pose as much of a threat as the arena, which is full of hazards for the competitors.

BattleBots is a single elimination tournament. The show is a reimagined take of the killer robot combat sport from Whalerock Industries and the creators of the original BattleBots franchise, Ed Roski and Greg Munson. The new version also put a greater emphasis on the design and build elements of each robot, the bot builder backstories and eliminated the separate weight classes so bots of all sizes could face off against each other.

The two-hour season two premiere starts tonight at 8 p.m. ET. The qualifying round will conclude next week on Thursday, June 30 at 8 p.m. ET.
