We have finally learned when Superman will play a part in the Supergirl TV series.

According to Variety, the Man of Steel will be appearing in the first two episodes of Supergirl‘s second season, which will air Mondays at 8 p.m. on The CW. A specific premiere date has not yet been announced.

“Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of ‘Supergirl,’” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement.

Technically Superman has appeared on Supergirl before, but only briefly and with his face never being visible. Now, for the first time, he will be an actual character in the show. Warner Bros. says they are currently in the middle of the casting process. The role will not be portrayed by Henry Cavil, who plays Superman in DC’s films Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Unlike Marvel, DC’s movie and TV universes are completely separate, and they already have two different actors playing The Flash, for instance.

Andrew Kreisberg had previously stated he wasn’t that enthusiastic about having Superman on the series, although this was not due to any network constraints or rights issues.

“The show’s called Supergirl and it’s about Supergirl,” he told ComicBook.com. “It’s not like we’ve been jonesing to have Superman on it.”
