Yesterday, drama erupted on Twitter by way of DJ and producer Calvin Harris.
It all started when TMZ reported that Taylor Swift wrote Calvin Harris’ new single with Rihanna, “This is What You Came For.” Her rep confirmed this later.
According to TMZ’s sources, Swift and Harris’ relationship fell apart because “he disrespected her when the song was released.”
Knowing the song would be a hit and not wanting their collaboration to overshadow it, Swift, who kept the publishing rights, used the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg on the credits.
Calvin released the song on April 29 with Rihanna and, as they imagined, it became an instant hit. It’s been at #1 or #2 on the Dance/Electronic chart for 9 weeks, and is #5 on the Billboard 100, according to TMZ.
So, what’s the problem you ask? Well, when the song was released, Harris appeared on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show and told Seacrest he doesn’t plan to ever work with Swift again.
You know we haven’t even spoken about it. I can’t see it happening though.
According to TMZ, that hurt Swift’s feelings; she felt he took it too far. A source called this April occurrence the “breaking point in the relationship,” said TMZ.
So, when news broke of Swift’s secret collaboration, at first, Harris was all smiles (or, upside down smiles).
He then tried to explain himself.
But then something ticked him off, and he went on a rampage of Swift-trashing.
Maybe it’s because a month ago, his rep said that Swift did not write the song, and he was pissed he was outed as a liar?
No one knows why Harris has such a drastic change of heart on Twitter (even E! couldn’t put the pieces together), but either way, he made it clear that he’s sick of Swift.
He even went as far as to take shots at Swift’s new relationship with Tom Hiddleston. Maybe he’s pissed at how fast she moved on.
And that’s not all. Next he eluded to the fact that Swift had it out for Katy Perry.
Perry jumped in with this hilarious gif that gives the idea that she has no idea how she got roped into this and what to say, except, he’s right.
Perry then retweeted a post of her’s from May 9 that seems perfectly appropriate for yesterday’s events.
Swift, of course, has been her perfect silent self.
