Each year, the Golden Globes recognize excellence in film and television. This year’s 74th annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on Sunday, January 8. The deadline submission for Golden Globe Motion Picture and Television awards was October 31, 2016, and the nominees were announced on December 12, 2016, by Don Cheadle, Lauren Dern, and Anna Kendrick.
The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story led the pack for television shows with five nominations, followed by The Night Manager with four. The ceremony will take place at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, and will be hosted by talk-show host Jimmy Fallon. Meryl Streep will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award this year for her contribution to the world of entertainment.
The Golden Globe ceremony will honor actors in 25 categories: 14 film categories and 11 TV, and Sylvester Stallone’s three daughters (Scarlet, Sistine, and Sophia) will share the title of Miss Golden Globe. In an interview following the announcement, Scarlet told People, “It feels great, especially because we’re doing it with all of us.” Her sister, Sistine, added on, “It’s so memorable, it’s a dream. I think I’m dreaming, someone pinch me. This isn’t happening right now.”
