Star Wars Rebels is going on another extended break. Every time it looks like the show is going to regain its footing with a string of strong episodes, Disney puts new episodes on the backburner. The next new episode of Rebels, “Legacy of Mandalore,” doesn’t air until Saturday, February 18 at 8:30 p.m. ET. Read on for a preview of the episode.
In “Trials of the Darksaber,” Sabine finally started embracing her Mandalorian heritage. Kanan and Ezra agreed to train her with the Darksaber, which they recorded from Darth Maul’s hideout on Dathomir. Sabien was reluctant to even touch it, because of the pain it brought her family and people. However, Rau believes that she can use the weapon as a symbol to help Mandalorians rally against the tyranny of the Empire.
Sabine agreed to train with the Darksaber and hopes that she can prove her parents wrong. They think she’s a traitor for leaving Mandalore, but she was really hoping to help them. Her parents have sided with the Empire and it will be a challenge to convince them to help the Rebellion.
In “Legacy of Mandalore,” the challenge begins. Here’s what the episode description is:
Hoping to get her family to help the rebels, Sabine returns home with Kanan and Ezra, and finds herself embroiled in her family’s power struggle for Mandalore.
That doesn’t tell us much, but we do know that Sabine’s role in Rebels will only grow for the remainder of season three. (And hopefully, there aren’t any more extended breaks after this one.)
