M.I.A., aka Maya Arulpragasam, has released the brand new music video for her newest single, “P.O.W.A.” The video, directed by M.I.A., has some outlets saying the rapper is sending a message to Donald Trump, too.
Her latest record, AIM, was released in September of 2016 by Interscope and Polydor. “P.O.W.A.” is said to be an unreleased track that didn’t make it onto that album.
The rapper recently teased her new song by releasing a portion of the song on Twitter. The lyrics featured in this part of the song were as followed: “I’m not Rihanna, I’m not Madonna, I’m not Mariah or Ariana/I’m been around in this world causing drama/The real spice girl, hot girl power.”
She also shared the lyrics to “P.O.W.A.” with her fans on Twitter, which you can check out right here:
Her spike in social media activity came just a day before the release of her latest music video.
M.I.A.’s latest release is sure to please fans that weren’t happy when she said AIM would be her last record. She also said she was considering retiring from music, according to The Fader. It wouldn’t be the first time she retired either. In 2008, the rapper left the business, only to return that same year.
