Last week was the premiere of season 24 for Dancing With the Stars and pro dancer Sharna Burgess is paired with bull rider Bonner Bolton. The judges and fellow cast members gushed over the duo’s ballroom chemistry and viewers blew up Twitter with speculation about the pair’s relationship. When Burgess and Bolton were hanging out on set, a slip of the hand on national television sent viewers into a social media frenzy. Bolton was accused of trying to grab Burgess’ crotch.
All week, the couple has had to defend themselves over the “grab” with Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, TMZ, and other media outlets. When speaking with TMZ, Burgess said the situation was blown completely out of proportion.
When speaking with Extra TV, Bolton explained what happened on his end, saying:
I was watching Peta [Murgatroyd] and Nick [Viall] up there and I really had no idea. I knew it was her that bumped into me and I put my arm around her and I was turned to watch the TV screen and I felt her push my hand away and honestly had no idea.
Burgess then added:
You can see when I move his hand that he had no idea where it was. He has no reaction and it was such an innocent mistake that was truly blown so far out of proportion. I didn’t think anything of it. I also didn’t think the cameras were right on us at that point either until I saw my Twitter feed blow up … He was mortified.
After Bolton’s mistake started gaining the attention of fans, Burgess took to Twitter to defend her partner, basically saying that anyone who thought the move was intentional is stupid.
