Good Morning America co-host George Stephanopoulos is 5’7″ tall.
In comparison, Stephanopoulos’ co-hosts are significantly taller — especially the women who wear high heels. For example, Robin Roberts is 5-foot-10 (without heels) and anchor Michael Strahan is 6-foot-5.
On Wednesday, July 13, fans of GMA noticed that production had made some changes to the set, namely to the anchor desk that is featured on television each time the program airs. According to Page Six, the change was made to help hide Stephanopoulos’ legs, which are very short.
The metal and glass anchor desk used to be very open and the anchors’ legs were always visible in wide angle camera shots. Many could see that Stephanopoulos’ legs were much shorter than his co-anchors, so production did something about it. A metal-looking plate, of sorts, was added to the middle of the desk. The piece looks to be about 12 inches wide, covering up most of the bottom halves of each of the anchors.
A source told Page Six that Stephanopoulos is “dwarfed by human trees Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan,” and that producers wanted to make a change to hide the anchors short legs, which barely reached the floor.
“GMA initially thought using an anchor desk with elevated chairs would help the problem. Still awkward, George’s little-boyish mini-legs were seen dangling,” the source told Page Six.
Below is a photo of how the anchor desk used to appear.

In 2011, there were rumors that ABC wanted to replace Stephanopoulos with Josh Elliott. The CBS journalist stands at 6-foot-3 and would have fit right in with the taller co-hosts.
Stephanopoulos is often given a hard time about his height. However, this doesn’t bother his wife, Ali Wentworth, one bit. “He’s 5-foot-7. But 6-foot-7 in bed,” she once said, according to Page Six.
