Rumors have been circulating that Rick and Morty might be new tonight on Adult Swim. A promo was briefly released on Facebook that said Rick and Morty was returning July 23, rather than the July 30 date we’ve all been expecting. This caused some fans to wonder if the Rick and Morty Season 3 Episode 2 was going to be released early.
But if you’re wondering if the rumors are true, they are not. Rick and Morty is airing tonight, but it will be re-airing the Season 3 premiere (Season 3 Episode 1) that was widely released on April Fool’s. The TV Guide listing for tonight shows Rick and Morty airing from 11:30 p.m.-12 a.m. Eastern tonight, but the episode is “The Rickshank Redemption,” which was the Season 3 premiere. Right before that episode airs, you can see the Season 2 finale.
The newest Rick and Morty episode will still be premiering at 11:30 p.m. Eastern next week, July 30.
Now, Adult Swim did release Episode 2 early, but only to people who are at Comic-Con last night. So they got to see the episode, but they were told not to record it or share any leak. So it looks like the rest of us will be waiting one more week.
While you’re waiting for the next episode to premiere, check out screenshots from Episode 2 below, along with some discussions about the Season 3 premiere:
