Sony’s interplanetary mascot heroes are heading into the farther reaches of the universe. But this time around, gamers won’t be controlling it because they’ll be watching it on the big screen. An official Ratchet and Clank movie is heading to move theaters in 2015. How do we know? Well, the first teaser trailer for this upcoming animated film was released today. Insomniac Studios (the developers behind this series) and animation studio Rainmaker Studios are working to bring this 3D move to fans and children alike. Check out the trailer above.
The film’s script is being hemmed by Insomnia senior writer TJ Fixman. He tweeted out the big news of his new role to the world:

The film’s plot was also revealed by the official press release:
Ratchet and Clank tells the story of two unlikely heroes as they struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet is the last of his kind – a foolhardy ‘lombax’ who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way they’ll learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.
