It looks like the rumors and speculation were true after all. A 3DS remake of the Nintendo 64 classic The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask was announced today during a Nintendo Direct presentation.
According to a quote from Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, it sounds like parts of the game may be altered to be more family friendly:
“This dark departure from the Zelda formula must have left some intense and scary memories in players’ minds. As we worked on the remade version, we set out to maintain the original level of challenge while keeping the game accessible for anyone.”
The majority of gamers will always prefer Ocarina of Time, but a surprising number of people say Majora’s Mask is a better game. You be the judge.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask launches for the Nintendo 3DS in spring of 2015. It’s rated E10+ for animated blood, fantasy violence and suggestive themes.
