You absolutely knew this awesome party fighter was gonna top our list! Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is one of the year’s best games, period. This home console version comes with a smorgasbord of new features – 8-player Smash, Smash Tour, several new stages/characters, Amiibo support, a different take on Classic Mode etc. The variety of controller options provided to players is pretty wide and there’s a lot of replayability to get sucked into here. 2. Mario Kart 8
The latest Mario Kart arrived with brand new playable racers, vehicle options and a bunch of new/retro track selections. The zero-gravity sections of the newest stages gives the tried and true formula of this series a new spin on the always fun gameplay. And with the new DLC tracks and characters, you’ll have even more joyous multiplayer races as you take Link and Animal Crossing’s Villager on the kart track.
3. Bayonetta 2
This PlatinumGames action sequel is pure madness! Somehow, Bayonetta 2 increases the crazy factor by a million with a new adventure filled with jaw dropping set piece moments. The 1st stage places you on top of a jet airplane while you’re engaged in battle with several angels. THE 1ST STAGE! 4. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
One of the best platformers of 2014 is undoubtedly Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Donkey Kong as his monkey buddies get blown away from their home island and are forced to make the long trek back. Luckily that journey back to their home jungle is a fun romp filled with colorful visuals, cool boss encounters and several hub worlds to explore. The added abilities of the additional Kong characters switches up the gameplay and gives you several new options to navigate each stage.

5. Hyrule Warriors
This mash-up of The Legend of Zelda and the fast-paced gameplay of Dynasty Warriors is surprisingly fun. This brawler gives you the option to play with a myriad of series veterans and newcomers as you slash through hundreds of evil minions. What keeps this game interesting and more varied than most Dynasty Warriors games is the selection of weapon styles that make your bashing experience much better. This action/adventure is filled with several nods to The Legend of Zelda’s storied past.
6. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is one of the final Wii U releases of 2014. And it stands high right next to the quality of the Wii U games that came before it. You’ll utilize Toad over hundreds of stages as you maneuver around a map filled with collectibles. Each stage offers up an ever increasing difficulty factor that keeps you on your toes. The graphics and music will keep you in a relaxed and overjoyed mood at all times. 7. Super Smash Bros. for 3DS
If you know someone with a 3DS that doesn’t have any version of the latest Super Smash Bros., you have to remedy that problem immediately! Taking this awesome fighter on the go is something we’ve always wanted and we’re totally pleased with the finished product. The fights run smoothly, the Smash Run mode is a pretty fun diversion and the exclsuive stages offered here are pretty cool. The 3DS version of this party brawler is pure quality, gamers!

8. Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
The mechanics introduced in Pokemon X/Y have now been used to improve the Ruby/Sapphire versions even more. This latest selection of dual Pokemon games are simply amazing to replay or experience for the 1st time. The graphics get a much needed overhaul and the new Soaring ability opens up new ground for players to venture to. The same awesome Pokemon collecting and battling gameplay is also intact here, making these titles one of the best offerings in the series.

9. Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth
Atlus is genius for combining the cast of Persona 3 & 4 with the tough dungeon crawling gameplay of Etrian Odyssey. RPG nuts will get a kick out of watching each game’s character interact and do battle in a a wide variety of dangerous locales. This is one of the games you’ll pour dozens of hours into, folks. There’s a ton of battle mechanics to remember and utilize to the fullest. This deep RPG is worth getting into this Holiday season.

10. Kirby: Triple Deluxe
Kirby: Triple Deluxe is a 3-for-1 package that 3DS fans will truly appreciate – the main platforming portion, Kirby Fighters Deluxe and Dedede’s Drum Dash Deluxe.Kirby is still him…her…well its awesome self as you run through stages and suck up your enemies for new powers. The added multiplayer gameplay seen in the fighting portion and the rhythm-heavy gameplay seen in Dedede’s portion are both worth delving into.
