‘Project CARS’: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Most gamers know about the leading franchises in the racing game genre – Need for Speed, Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo, GRID etc. As far as racing simulation titles go, a new contender is throwing its name into the race to be the best – Project CARS.

Developer Slightly Mad Studios has set out to release the most realistic racing game everyone has ever seen and played. The range of real-world automobiles and locales on hand for this game are for true motorheads. The events leading up to this title’s release has come in the form of supportive fans who have donated their funds to make this racer a reality. There’s a lot to love about this awesome new franchise in the making.

Here’s every facet you need to know about the upcoming racer known as Project CARS.


1. Project CARS was not Only Funded by Slightly Mad Studios, But it was Supported by the Fans


Project CARS (Community Assisted Racing Simulator) was developed by British game developer Slightly Mad Studios. The developer chose to financially support the game without the backing of a traditional video game publisher. Slightly Mad Studios and the community (filled with 80,000 members) helped raise 3.75-million Euro for Project CARS’ full funding goal.

Community members helped throw some money into the funding goal pot by buying in-game Tool Packs, which allowed players contribute to the game’s content creation, QA and marketing media. Along with gaining special perks upon the game’s launch, community members will be granted a share of the game sales profits generated within the 1st three years after the game’s launch.


2. The Game Features a Huge Collection of Cars Across Several Class Specifications


Project CARS features over 67 playable cars. The car classes included in this racer are Retro Touring, Road Cars, Karts, Track Day Cars, Supercars, Le Mans Prototypes, GT, Modern Open Wheel. Some cars come with the standard edition of the game, while some of the other vehicles come in the Limited Edition Car Pack and Modified Car Pack. Plus, players will get the chance to download new free cars every month after release.

4. The Game Will Come With a Suite of Features


Project CARS will allow players to enjoy themselves in four different ways – Career, Solo, Online and Community. The Solo play mode allows single players to participate in custom made Quick Race Weekends, while the Online play pits everyone against each other in competitive multiplayer. The Community functions as a hub for players to utilize its many features together.

5. Project CARS Release Date Varies Across Regions and Platforms


Project CARS’ initial launch date will occur on May 7, 2015 (PC). The game will then see its retail release on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC in the listed regions on the following dates:

– May 7, 2015 (Europe & Australia)
– May 8, 2015 (UK)
– May 12, 2015 (US)

Project CARS will launch sometime later in 2015 on the Nintendo Wii U and SteamOS.
