I’m always a little skeptical when it comes to EA nowadays. That wasn’t always the case; there was a point where EA was a company that consistently released great game after great game. It looks like EA is going back to basics, as the company has announced the Need for Speed reboot (simply titled as Need for Speed).
Ghost Games and EA noted that the game is a full reboot coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4, noting that they’re going back to what they believe are the four pillars of their racing game franchise that fans love the most: deep customization, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that pulls you through the game.
“Need for Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we’re returning it to greatness in this reboot,” said Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer at Ghost Games. “Pulling on our 20 years of history, and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we’ve always wanted to. We’re listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed.”
The Need for Speed release date hasn’t been set just yet, but it is scheduled to launch at some point in Fall 2015. We’ll undoubtedly learn more at E3 2015 during EA’s press conference.
