Some Pokemon GO players are reporting that they have received an email which seems to confirm their account was permanently banned. But was it really?
Here’s what you need to know.
If you got an email like the one shown in the photo below, you may be worried that your account was permanently banned. However, this isn’t necessarily the case. Redditor MrTopHat7 reported here that he received the following email:
If you can’t read the image above, it reads:
Trainer, We have received your appeal. Our goal is to provide a fair, fun and legitimate game experience for everyone. Use of any other third-party software or app, including but not limited to scripts/apps, applications used to falsify your location, using emulators, modified or unofficial software and/or accessing Pokemon GO clients or backends in an unauthorized manner is considered cheating. Please consider your account permanently terminated unless we reply back to your appeal. -NianticOps
He first became concerned when he returned from visiting family in another country and discovered that he couldn’t log into his Pokemon GO account. When he checked to see if the servers were down, they seemed fine. After continually being unable to log in, he concluded that he was banned. He didn’t have an email from Niantic, but he went to their Ban Appeal Page anyway, filled out a form, and appealed what he thought was a permanent ban.
That’s when he received the email above.
If you get this email after filling out a ban appeal, don’t panic. It appears that these emails are being sent automatically to everyone who fills out a ban appeal form. Although Niantic has not officially confirmed this, multiple Pokemon GO trainers on Reddit have mentioned that the same thing happened to them and they were later able to get back into their accounts and play the game.
