Players who wish to change their Battle.net BattleTag more than once may now do so – for a fee.
The service has appeared in the Shop under Battle.net Products, and the entry states, “Whether you’ve outgrown your BattleTag or you’ve decided it’s simply time for a change, you can update your BattleTag with just a few clicks.” With the recent release of World of Warcraft: Legion, the long-running MMO has seen an influx of returning players, so it’s possible that many of them desired a name change after years of being away and Blizzard decided to cash in on the trend.
Previously, users who wished to change their Battletag could do so once for free. This will still be the case, Blizzard assures customers; you’re allowed one freebie, and after that, you have to shell out $10 per name change. You can change it as many times as you want, and to whatever you want – BattleTags don’t have to be unique, as long as they adhere to the naming policy – so you’re only limited by your wallet and imagination.
Simply log in to Battle.net and add it to your cart, and you are entitled to one non-transferrable name change.
