Release Date & Price

The Nintendo Switch will release on March 3, 2017 in all major territories. The console will launch at $299.99. You can get a Switch with the Gray Joy-Con or Neon Blue/Red Joy-Con controller for that aforementioned price.

Online, Battery Life, Controllers & Peripherals Pricing

The online service for the Nintendo Switch will be free during a trial period for non-subscribers through Fall 2017. As a non-paying subscriber, you’ll have access to the Nintendo eShop, the ability to register and manage your online friends list, the chance to share screenshots to social media and control over the console’s Parental Controls app. Paid subscribers will get the full spectrum of features. You’ll get access to all the non-paid subscriber bonuses, plus online gameplay, lobbies and the voice chat app. Along with all that, paid subscribers will get a special monthly game download and exclusive deals.

Nintendo released the following statement regarding the monthly game deal:

Subscribers will get to download and play a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) or Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Super NES) game (with newly-added online play) for free for a month.

Region Locking won’t be a factor for this new Nintendo console, so you’ll be able to play games released in other countries. When the Switch isn’t docked and connected to your TV, its battery lasts from 2-and-a-half-hours to 6-and-a-half-hours. The battery life is also said to vary depending on the game currently being played once it’s in Portable Mode.
