NieR: Automata released on Steam last week and was met with several performance issues. One of the main issues with the game was crashing to a white screen while using sword combos. A temporary fix for this has been found until the developers come out with a fix of their own. Obviously, this may not work for everybody but it’s worth a shot if you want to play this game without the crashes.
User Zefar on Steam posted this fix but keep in mind it will only work for AMD users. The first thing you have is do a clean wipe of your current GPU drivers. You will need to use AMD Cleanup Utility and this can usually be found in C:\Program Files\AMD\CIM\Bin64.
After that is done, you need to download the older Radeon Driver 16.11.5. This can have an impact on performance with other games since you’ll be rolling back to a dated driver but this will be a way to enjoy NieR: Automata.
I’ve tested the driver myself and after about an hour of gameplay, I have not experienced the white screen once. While it’s unfortunate you have to do this to get it working, it’s one of the only options for now.
