A brand new Pokemon Go event is about to begin.

On March 22nd, Niantic Labs announced a “water festival” event for Pokemon Go. During this special event, Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and their evolutions will spawn more frequently in the wild than they usually do.

In addition, in areas of the real world where water-type Pokemon typically appear, generation two water Pokemon will now spawn at a higher frequently. Finally, the announcement also states that “you might even encounter Lapras.”

The water festival event kicks off on March 22nd, but not until the afternoon: it will begin at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time. For those who live in other time zones, you can use this website to see what time that will be for you.

Once it begins, the water festival event will last for exactly one week. It will end on Wednesday, March 29th, once again at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

It makes sense to start the event on March 22nd, as that is World Water Day, an annual event meant to highlight the need to ensure all countries around the world have access to clean water. The 2017 theme is “Why Waste Water?” with the day focusing on the idea of reusing wastewater.

This is the major event in Pokemon Go since February, when there was a Valentine’s Day event in which pink Pokemon spawned more frequently than usual.
