“SNES-Style” ‘Harvest Moon’ Game To Be Shown At E3

As some of you may know, this year is the 20th anniversary of the Harvest Moon series. It looks like Natsume is celebrating that by announcing a brand new Harvest Moon coming and it is looking to capitalize off the nostalgia of the older SNES-era games.

Harvest Moon: Light of Hope will set itself apart from other Harvest Moon titles with its depth, including a robust story and clear-cut goals,” said Hiro Maekawa, President & CEO of Natsume in a statement provided to the press.  “We set out to create a SNES-style nostalgic game with deep and meaningful characters and events, and we are excited to have our fans play it at E3 and tell us what they think!”

Harvest Moon: Light of Hope begins with the play looking for a new start but their ship is hit by a monsoon and the player ends up washed up on a small harbor town that has been destroyed by the storm too. The player must now rebuild the town and save the lighthouse. It’s unclear how growing crops, tending to livestock and making friends will save the town but we digress.

It has been a pretty good year for Harvest Moon so far. Through Playstation’s PS2 on PS4 program, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Special Edition and Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland have both made their way onto the PS4. Harvest Moon 64 is available on the Wii U’s Virtual Console as of February. Rising Star Games, in cooperation with Natsume, announced its first ever app for smart devices, Harvest Moon Lil’ Farmers. Rising Star Games is working with Natsume for Harvest Moon: Light of Hope.

The title will be playable on both Switch and PC in the Natsume booth at E3 2017 in South Hall, Booth 2047 in June. Harvest Moon: Light of Hope is in development for the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC.
