We got our first real look at Beyond Good and Evil 2 today and it looks pretty impressive so far.
The game was debuted during Ubisoft’s E3 2017 press conference with an extended trailer that showed us how far the game has come. The game itself is prequel to 2003’s Beyond Good & Evil. After all these years, Ubisoft decided it was worth it keep building on the franchise.
In the video we get to see our character on a jetpack as he moves across the game’s environment. The 14 and a half minute video show us a lot about how the game will control and what we should expect. One of the coolest things we saw is the ability to leave the atmosphere of whatever planet you’re on and actually go off into space. Once it space, you have free reign of where you want to from there. The further away from the planet you, the faster you can go since you aren’t restricted by its gravitational pull or anything else. Ubisoft plans on not having empty planets, but instead having planets that have life and are worth exploring.
No release date has been announced for the title and we also don’t have a complete sense of what platforms it will be available on. It was rumored that the title would be a timed Nintendo Switch exclusive, but that rumor has since been debunked and that listing has been called a bug.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 will allow the player to choose between a male or female avatar and will be much more RPG-based than its predecessor. Players will improve their attributes, gain new spacecraft and crew, which can also be upgraded over time. The game takes place in a shared universe, with some events that could affect other players in different games.
We’re impressed with what we’ve seen so far, but we’re excited to see more. You can check out the first in-engine demo below.
