‘Rocket League’ For Nintendo Switch: What To Expect

Rocket League

Everyone’s favorite rocket car soccer game simulator is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year. Of course, since this game was released quite a while back, something had to be done for Nintendo Switch owners to make this game feel like their own, and Psyonix delivered.

Rocket League was mixed in with a reel of games showcasing Nintendo’s competitive games, like ARMS, Splatoon 2 and Pokken Tournament DX. We guess the mystery is solved on what the fourth game to appear on top of this banner is. Nintendo recently launched a new Twitter page focusing on their competitive games and we speculated that this could mean a Super Smash Bros. announcement was coming. It turns out we were wrong. Rocket League received a full trailer later in the presentation.

Nintendo Switch owners can expect exclusive battle cars and customization options based on Nintendo franchises. In the trailer, we got a look at a Mario hat on one of the cars so we can expect at least the Mario franchise to appear in some way. Like other platforms do, the Nintendo Switch will feature cross-play multiplayer with Xbox One and Steam players. Microsoft announced cross-play with Minecraft with every platform but PlayStation at their E3 2017 conference.

This version of Rocket League will feature all the same content found on other platforms, such as features and updates, on top of the Nintendo-exclusive items.

The Nintendo Switch will offer portability that no other console can offer so if you want Rocket League on the go, this is the version you’ll want. The price will also stand firm at $20, matching the price of the other platforms. Rocket League will support all of the Switch’s play modes, included docked TV mode, tabletop mode, handheld mode, and will feature both online and local multiplayer.

All we have to announced on the release date is it’s coming Holiday 2017. You can check out the official announcement trailer below. We’ll see you on the pitch.
