For those of you still eagerly waiting for the Nintendo Switch release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, the wait is almost over.
We recently learned in May that the Switch version of the game would feature exclusive features, such as motion controls, 6-player local co-op and single Joy-Con play. The release date at that point was officially Fall 2017.
For a better idea on how motion controls will work with the title, check out the video below. At the very least, it doesn’t look like the motion controls will feel tacked on at the last minute. However, they do look like they require specific movements so issues could arise from that.
Bandai Namco officially announced the release date today as September 22, 2017 in the Americas. Japan will receive an earlier release – September 7. There’s no word on whether this version will include all previously released DLC for the title or whether it will just release at the vanilla version. The last DLC pack released last month.
According to Gematsu (via V-Jump), there are bonuses coming to the Nintendo Switch version which will allow the player to experience the “Time Patrol” main story from the first Dragon Ball Xenoverse. Those who pre-order will be a code to unlock all the characters from the main story early. This is a nice bone to Nintendo fans since Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1 never made its way to the Wii U or any other Nintendo console.
We don’t know much about how the performance will be on the Nintendo Switch. The game doesn’t look to be too demanding but we’ve seen in the past with action-heavy games on the Switch that it can have an impact on the performance. The first offender came with Dragon Quest Heroes 1 and 2, while Fire Emblem Warriors also has some issues with its performance on the Switch. Here’s to hoping we receive a smooth port on the Nintendo Switch.
