A new Pokemon Go update is about to be released. What’s new in the latest version of the game?
One change in this update is to the way that motivation decay works. When the new gym system was released, the idea was that Pokemon over 3,000 CP lose motivation much more quickly than Pokemon under 3,000 CP. Niantic talked about this like it was an intentional feature and like they wanted players to factor this into their strategy.
But now, they seem to be talking about this like it was a glitch and as if Pokemon under 3,000 CP were always intended to lose motivation as quickly as Pokemon over 3,000 CP. That rate is about 10 percent, meaning that it seems that this is how quickly Pokemon will lose motivation now, regardless of CP. Niantic writes in its patch notes, “Resolved a motivation decay bug impacting Pokémon with less than 3000 CP.”
Other than that, everything else in this update is intended to resolve relatively minor bugs. For example, Niantic has finally fixed the issue where Spark was suddenly not appearing and where Team Instict players were seeing Candela instead. Plus, they’ve fixed a bug where Pokemon freeze after consuming potions, a bug where the game freezes after all six Pokemon faint during a raid battle, and a bug where the game would frequently crash on the iPhone 6.
This update comes about 10 days after the previous one, which launched on July 18th. Players have not yet had a chance to perform a data mine, so it remains to be seen if there’s anything else hidden within this update.
