We have just recently wrapped up Splatoon 2’s first Splatfest but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be gearing up for the next one already. The first Splatfest made us choose between ice cream and cake. The result of that Splatfest, at least in the Americas, was that team Ice Cream reigned supreme with 76 percent of the votes.
If you thought that one was a hard choice, Splatoon 2 is keeping it going with the next contest making us choose between two of the condiment kings – ketchup and mayo. This one will probably end up being a little closer than the ice cream and cake competition but it’s too early to tell for certain.
Nintendo says this next Splatfest will be taking place during the first week of August. We now know the event begins August 5 and runs until August 6. You are able to pick your sides right now to prepare. This gives players a good amount of time to familiarize themselves with the game and think long and hard about their decision.
Since a lot of Splatoon 2’s longevity will depend on these Splatfests, Nintendo has promised to keep them going for at least two years. This gives us Splatfests for twice as long as its predecessor and it will also be a way to keep players interested. On top of the Splatfests, Nintendo is also pumping the game with free DLC long after the launch, giving players more weapons, gear, stages and more. This should come as no surprise since Splatoon was one of the Wii U’s standout titles so Nintendo is building on that with the sequel.
