Peaches Geldof, beloved fashion journalist, mother of two, wife, and London socialite, died yesterday at just 25 years old. Numerous media outlets are speculating about whether her drastic diet could have contributed to her untimely death.
1. Geldof Has Been Open About Her Juice Diet in the Past
In an interview with OK! Magazine in 2011, she talked about how she used an all-liquid juice diet (3 meals per day) to lose almost 50 pounds.
There are also reports that she sometimes dieted by eating just miso soup and fruit.
2. Geldof Juiced For Long Periods of Time
Most juice fasts last for 3-7 days, but Geldof did them for longer. She told OK!: “I do juicing. You juice vegetables and then you drink it three times a day. It’s gross. I do it usually for about a month.”
After this interview came out in 2011, a spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association went on record to say that “surviving on fruit is a very dangerous diet…rapid dieting like this not only makes you lose muscle strength, but wastes away your internal organs.”
3. Geldorf Recently Shocked the Media with Her Skinny Frame
In the past couple months, bloggers and journalists have been commenting on her astonishingly tiny frame at the London and Paris Fashion Weeks.
4. Geldof Has Spoken Out About The Pressure to Be Thin
After some media criticism and speculation about a possible eating disorder, she responded by assuring the public that she just cut out “crap” from her diet. She also talked openly about the public pressure to be thin.
5. In 2013, Yahoo Called Her the “Thinnest Pregnant Woman at London Fashion Week”
She looked svelte but beautiful while pregnant in 2013, and Yahoo commented on her thinness. They reported that she did eat real food like fruits, vegetables, chicken, and fish but cut out junk food and carbs at night.
