Patrick Cote will undergo surgery on Tuesday morning to repair a fractured hand he suffered during his UFC 113 loss to Alan Belcher last weekend.
Cote released the news via Twitter today, saying that the injury will prevent him from training for two to three weeks. The Canadian fighter also posted photos of the injury.
The Belcher fight represented Cote’s return from an injury suffered during a late 2008 title fight with Anderson Silva. In the second round, Belcher lifted Cote in a move similar to a pro wrestling piledriver, spiking Cote into the canvas on his forehead. The move seemed to knock Cote out momentarily and Belcher quickly seized the opportunity to lock in a rear-naked choke for the victory.
