A potential bout between UFC middleweights Alessio Sakara (15-7) and Nate Marquardt (29-9-2) has been officially cancelled. The two fighters were scheduled to meet at UFC 116 in Las Vegas, but Sakara has pulled out of the fight due to the passing of his father.
At this time a replacement for Sakara has not been found, but Marquardt is still scheduled to be on the fight card.
Sakara was riding a three-fight win streak into the potential bout with Marquardt. The Italian fighter has defeated the likes of James Irvin and former middleweight title challenger Thales Leites.
