You Can Help Hire Heroes USA With A Mouse Click

Many former United States servicemen face a tough road when they finish their military duty. Can you imagine serving a year or more in Iraq and then returning to your hometown, only to discover that it’s impossible to find a job?

That’s the reality many former soldiers face, and as a former United States army medic, I can empathize. So can UFC middleweight Brian Stann.

Stann is best known for his career in mixed martial arts, but he’s also a highly-decorated former Marine. Captain Stann was awarded the Silver Star, our country’s third-highest award for valor in combat, for his actions during a siege on his Marine base in Iraq.

Stann is now the Executive Director of Hire Heroes USA, a non-profit organization who attempts to provide career placement assistance for America’s returning soldiers. Hire Heroes provides transitional assistance for veterans of the Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom operations, and specializes in helping soldiers who were injured during their tours of duty.

Here’s how you can help: from now until Monday, the makers of the Call of Duty video game (and the Call of Duty Endowment) will award $1 to Hire Heroes for every single person who “likes” this Facebook page. Yes, it’s that easy. All you have to do is follow the link and click the link that says you like it, and Hire Heroes will receive a valuable donation that will enable them to help our soldiers who are transitioning back to civilian life.

“People need to wake up and recognize what’s happening to our vets when they leave the service,” Stann said. “We’re thrilled that CODE chose us to help them engage more folks on this issue, and gave us the opportunity to help more vets.”

Here’s a video of Stann talking about Hire Heroes and the Call of Duty contributions.
