Legendary heavyweights Fedor Emelianenko and Randy Couture will be featured on the cover of “EA Sports MMA.”
Electronic Arts officials made the announcement today. They also announced an October 19 release date for the game.
Couture, a multiple-time UFC champion and Hall of Fame member, signed his contract with Electronic Arts while in the midst of a contract dispute with the UFC. Couture eventually amended his relationship with the UFC and Dana White and returned to the company, but he’s unable to appear on THQ’s “UFC Undisputed” titles because of the contract with EA.
The rest of the game’s roster of fighters is made up mostly of Strikeforce and DREAM fighters. The game also gives players the option of using modified rule sets from North America and Japan, including the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts and the old PRIDE regulations. Players can also choose to fight in a ring or a cage, simulating both Strikeforce and DREAM environments.
